Google Maps

A map is an analogue or digital medium, which it represents the surface of the earth. Google Maps is a web-based service that provides detailed information about geographical regions and sities around the world. Also it offers aerial and satellite views of many places and in some cities we can have a street view of the place comprising photographs. We can use it as a geo web application.

Nowadays, digital maps are free, public and more useful than analogue maps, because the digital ones have additional digital information available, automatic route calculation, it's possible to have easily updates, device and it's partly Internet depended, opening of same map on different devices and dynamic zoom function.

Digital maps have different functions that we can use: presentation (graphical and text based preparation of a map), navigation (zoom in and out, and movement), retrieval (for locations, themes and mode of transport), analytical (routing and distance) and configuration function (satellite or road map).

Google maps can be for satellite imagery, street maps, 360º panoramic views (street views), route planning for a car, train, foot, bicycle and aircraft, and real-time of the traffic conditions. Also it would be a good idea to use it for your business, so you can share your location, show your places, contibutions, timeline, print, share or embed a map, mesure distances, get coordinates and contribute to the map.
