Google was developed in 1996 by Sergey Brin and Larry Page, as a research project at Stanford University, to find files on the Internet, which was firstly known as BackRub. Some years later in 1997 they decided to change the name to Google, getting inspired in the term Googol. Finally it became a private company in 1998 as Google Inc. with the mission of organizing global information and making it universally accessible and useful. Eight years later, the company was moved to its nowadays location in Mountain View (California).
